April 5 1994 was the day that kurt cobain died Instantly securing his place In the 27 club It’s members all rock stars With one thing in common Each of them dead at just 27 years old Like those that went before him Cobain lived life on the edge In the fast lane And now along with Jimmy Hendrix Jannis Joplin Brian Jones Jim Morrison He has reached iconic status A part of rock folklore And the rules of rock folklore Seems to be to burn out rather than fade away And always give the conspiracy theorists Plenty of ammunition To keep your name in people’s minds. In the case of kurt cobain I am one of those conspiracyists So many things don’t add up In the run up to the apparent suicide Foul play seems to have been involved Murder But regardless of the overwhelming evidence the suicide verdict still stands Nirvana albums still sell by the bucket load There are many books written about the life of kurt Some good, some not so good Some not worthy of the paper They are written on But it’s clear that like Hendrix and Morrison And all of the other 27ers The name of Kurt Cobain Will never be forgotten... In 2011 the curse of the 27 club Claimed another victim When Amy Winehouse died of alcohol intoxication It may all be coincidental But there must be something in this 27.
