"Introduced by Margaret Thatcher's government, Section 28 of the 1988 Local Government Act stated that councils should not "intentionally promote homosexuality or publish material with the intention of promoting homosexuality" in its schools or other areas of their work." You are not an equal You are not right What you stand for is wrong You are wrong It’s an illness that’s what it is You need treatment You need to get help It’s a choice A lifestyle of your choosing You must disband your groups Censer all literature that promotes homosexuality Do not allow it to be treated as normal Children must be taught that it’s wrong Boys are boys Girls are girls Boys date girls Anything else is unacceptable Unacceptable Unacceptable Get those ideas out of your head Section 28 is the law ... .... ...... ...... Bollocks How such a thing ever became law is despicable Discrimination Nobody has chosen to be gay It’s what you are Who you are I know enough gay people to know That they didn’t choose to be born this way They can’t change who they are And the feelings of confusion that they had as children Wasn’t helped by a government policy That highlighted that they were different And told them that they were abnormal. 30 years have passed since section 28 was created So much has changed And to me as a heterosexual man the world seems a more accepting place for the LGBT community But I could be wrong I’m only on the outside looking in But I hope that I am right Because I would like to know that we are all accepted for who we are Regardless
