No flowers for graves

When the light fades And the scream subsides And the rivers have all run dry When the warmth of the sun Begins to die And the crop and the land has crumbled When all around us Is pain and destruction And all of the hearts have been broken When people scavenge on the streets

And rioters' run a mock After all of the bridge's are destroyed And the closets' are filled with skeletons When the powers that be are not on our side When the people have no more fight And the oil wells stop pumping When the piper can no longer play And our lives end up on a scrap heap When the prophets have nothing to say When we turn our back on religion

Because none of the gods take our side When guns, tanks and Bombs Take over our lives And there are no flowers for the graves When the artists and the poets No longer have a voice

Because there is nothing more to say Let's take a long hard look at ourselves Before we fall too far Time to stand up and be counted

Lets aim for peace instead of war.
