Handfast

Joined in wedlock this boy and this girl

On a glorious midsummer’s day

The bride in white with a broach of blue

An athame by her side

The groom in dark robe

And a pure white scarf

With a dagger and a sword

A year and a day

They will spend together

A trial to see if they gel

If the answer is yes

And if it’s their wish

The couple will handfast for life

So the circle is cast

Enter the groom

All of the maidens bow

As do the men

As the bride enters too

Rings given

Fastened as one

The groom lifts the bride

Over the threshold

Knowing two have now become one
