Swimming against the tide

I’ve been swimming against the tide
I want to take a ride

But I’m biding my time

Until it feels right

I’m in free fall

I have no idea where I’m going to land

I want to take your hand

But you keep pushing me away

I wish you would stay

You won’t even look at me

You’re like a fox on the run

Hiding in shadows

But I will find you

My heart will go on

Even though you are gone

And I’ve read your dear John

After all of my kingdoms come

And the banging of the drum

I wont fade away

Believe me I’m here to stay

I will turn this thing around

And then you will be homeward bound

Piece by piece

I’m going to put this back together

Because I’ve seen the bigger picture

And although I’ll be none the richer

The world seems a better place when you are here

So I’m moving into top gear

And then I’m going to track you down

Because now I have a plan

To put right what once went wrong

I’m going to sing a brand new song

Like the ones that make you smile

You haven’t done that for a while

Just give me a second chance

Because we used to have such a fine romance

But I’m not going to pile on the pressure

I’m going to write it all down in a letter

That way I can say it better

Face to face I would only stutter

And I’m not going back in the gutter

I know that I‘ve burnt all my bridges

But just look at the lessons I’ve learnt

So I’m going to swim with the current

Move forward and never look back

And I picture you in my future

Just as soon as I get back on track

So get ready

I’m coming to find you

I must have one ace in this pack.
