These streets

These streets where I roam

May not have much

In the way of architecture

Most have the shops have gone

And the nightclubs and bars

Are just empty shells

Where ghosts meet to trade tales

And reminisce about the past

Its unlikely that anyone

Will choose these streets

For a holiday destination

There is nothing to attract people here

But for me this has always been home

This is where I was raised

This is the town that made me who I am

The media give us bad press

But that’s what they do

Pedal lies and untruths

There is more to this town

Than meets the eye

If only you chose to take a look

This is a multicultural town

People live together

All races and religions

Don’t believe what they tell you to believe

If you scratch the surface you will see

There is harmony in this town

The haters try to tear us apart

But we are stronger than that

They wont break us

This is my town

These are my streets

One day this town will thrive again.
