Silver cup

The lights go down

The clocks all stop

Its so much warmer at the top

Down in the town

Look for a sign

As I prepare to tow the line

Its all so clear

In my head

Remembering all the words you said

I made my choice

I stood my ground

Friday at the lost and found

I took the whole thing in my stride

But I wont beg

I have my pride

I know the rules

I read the book

Do you know all the risks I took?

To keep a float, to be well read

To wake the right side of the bed

The sun arose

The day was dawning

Once again without a warning

The headlines in the daily lier

So many with their hearts on fire

Too much hatred all around

Makes me sad and my head pound

They always try to stir things up

But no one has a silver cup

Those that wear a crown of thorns

Those who keep on locking horns

If we could all just pull together

Instead of fighting hell for leather

The Human race were all the same

Finding peace should be our aim

I’m getting sick of all the hate

Lets make amends its not too late

Show a little empathy

Lets try to find a remedy

Don’t worship the gods of war

And never be a force majeure

There’s hidden beauty all around

Just take a look it will astound

Its time to play the pipes of peace

Only then the hate will cease

I’m tired of watching bridges burn

Still haters will never learn

Why do they still believe the hype?

Still suckling on the devils pipe

Eyes closed off to all the truths

They take that to the polling booths

And give their vote to right wing groups

And then they make us jump through hoops

They cut the funds to those that need

I hate the hypocritical greed

As they put in expenses claims

Whilst peoples dreams go up in flames

So tired of life within the walls

Through history so many falls

Life chews you up and spits you out

Leaves you confused and filled with doubt

They tell us to repent our sins

They say that every looser wins

But its never been that cut and dry

There are no castles in the sky

We all know that the good die young

The chimes of doom have always rung

But every dog must have its day

And we still have so much to say

So what if we all take a stand

One world in union hand in hand
